Today I did the tennis team and played against a different tennis team. I was actually pretty happy that were playing on a Friday even though it was so hot outside. There were a lot of people from the other team that came to the courts today. We also had I think the same amount of people as them so nobody would be left except for one person when we were playing doubles.
When I played doubles, my partner was my closest friend in the tennis team and we went against two boys who I think were brothers. When the game ended, turns out we actually lost to our opponents 6-4. We were so close! Our opponents serves were not bad at all but it was hard to receive the ball.
Once it was done, I was assigned to go against one of the guys that I already went against in the doubles for my singles match. He was kind of taller, was older by 1 or 2 years, and was really good at serves. I was a little bit nervous because he can do many aces just like the doubles match.
I was losing 4-5 during the set. I then started to catch up and soon ended up to 5 all. I was excited that I got to catch up with my opponent because I haven’t really won a tennis match in a while. We ended up with 6-6 and had to do a tiebreaker. I started serving the first point and my opponent served two points. the score was then probably 2-4 or 2-5. When I caught up it was 6-6 and so happy it was almost over. I then won, but turns out I had to be ahead by two points not one. So we played it until one of us was ahead by two points and over seven points. I still won after that game and the score was 9-7.
I’ll never forget that match because it was probably the longest singles match I’ve played. VICTORY!
Congratulations, Nika K! Girl Power! I hope your Dad filmed the match so I can watch it when I visit you.
BTW, I won my first tournament playing against boys. In fact, I was the only girl in the round robin format. I made 2 boys cry when I beat them…(so sorry…)…
Congratulations I have always wanted to play tennis.
