Teacher dressed as Cleopatra: singing pop music to teach about history. Photo courtesy of YouTube.

Hi everyone! I discovered this channel on Youtube called historyteachers. Hope you enjoy this post!

I discovered this channel when my teacher showed us one of their videos since it was based on what we were studying. Before my teacher started playing the video, she mentioned that the video we were watching was actually a music video made by a history teacher. At the beginning of the video, I thought it was weird at first but later on, I soon started to enjoy watching the video.

After watching the video in class, I started to search some other videos made by this channel. Some of the videos that I watched included songs about the French revolution, the Trojan war, and Cleopatra VII. All of the videos are fun and educational at the same time because you get to learn history the fun way! It brings learning to a new level that makes it fun for everyone! If you are interested in seeing the videos from this Youtube channel, I put the link to the channel at the bottom of this post. I also have some videos from the channel at the bottom of this post if you are interested in watching these videos.

I really like the videos because of how they use different songs that we listen to everyday like “Vogue” by Madonna and “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani and make it very educational and entertaining to viewers. In some of the videos that they have the history teacher is in the music video while in others she is just singing.

One of the videos on Martin Luther used the song “Manic Monday” by the Bangles. In the video of Martin Luther, they sang about the life of Martin Luther from how he was a priest to when he was released and was no longer a priest. Another video that I saw was on Cleopatra that was using the song, “Fergilicious” by Fergie. This music video also sang about the life of Cleopatra. Historyteachers makes it fun to learn about the past and about famous people from the past.

These videos will always amaze you and is never boring. Every time you watch one of the videos from this Youtube channel, you’ll always learn something new about about the history.

Here are some of the videos from the historyteachers:

“Chinese Dynasties” in the style of “Vogue” by Madonna

“Black Death” in the style of “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani

“William the Conqueror” in the style of “Sexyback” by Justin Timberlake

“Cleopatra” in the style of “Fergilicious” by Fergie

“The Mahabhrata” in the style of “Abracadabra” by the Steve Miller Band

“Martin Luther” in the style of “Manic Monday” by the Bangles

It is really important for teachers to be more creative these days to make the students more interested in the subject. Good job in finding these videos!

Me? Just a crazy fan of theirs. I get nothing from disseminating this info. But, I do get to make them more popular. That has great usefulness to me. Why? Oh, that is personal. But if you go visit the above sites, you will see why.

I warn you, all this stuff is very addictive. And, oh yes, they have some new videos planned, soon. Be patient. All good things come to those who wait.

Also, if you are looking to get emails about historical topics, on a variety of matters, Google Pip Wilson. Pip Wilson’s Almanac.
Pip is Australian, with an oddball sense of humor.
His Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/pip.wilson
    The almanac is here: http://www.wilsonsalmanac.com/resume.html

It is adult stuff though. But a lot of good stuff is there. A gazillion oddball facts about history, and other topics!

I have to agree with Pierre, it really is very addictive to watch these videos, but a good kind of addiction (much better than drugs or anything like that!)
It’s funny how much *everybody* loves them, from 4 year old kids to highschool students and esteemed University Professors.
Probably the best comment ever was from a student who said
“it’s so amazing to learn things completely painlessly!”
(Yes, that’s true, but I had to laugh at that!)

I agree with him too! It’s fun to watch these videos but makes it easier to learn for those having a hard time learning something. Thanks for visiting my site.

I wish my history teacher was this creative! If all teachers were this creative, learning would definitely be more fun! In fairness to my history teacher, she did take us to museums. But it would be really great to actually have a history teacher who dresses the part and sings the facts!

It would be great to have a history teacher who would do those things because you don’t just learn it in a fun way but you will be able to remember the facts from hearing the catchy tune!

If I had a history teacher this good, I would have graduated with honors! I like the video on William the Conqueror to the tune of Justin Timberlake’s Sexyback. It showed me a great way to memorize the dates! That history teacher can really sing! She must love to teach! It only takes passion to do something as creative as this. I really love your videos! Keep on blogging! Your posts are really great!
